Liina Koivula is a writer whose fiction celebrates queer relationships and subcultures of the North American West. You may know them from Olympia, Bellingham, Albuquerque, Vancouver, Spokane, Northampton, or the internet. They co-run Local Smoke Press and its radio show with historian Kaden Jelsing and write the Substack Lifeguard of Love.

Liina holds an MFA in Creative Writing (Fiction) from Eastern Washington University and a BA from The Evergreen State College. Their story "Wisdom Teeth" was a winner of the 2023 AWP Intro Journals Award. Their short fiction has been nominated for Best of the Net 2026 and published in Feign, Puerto del Sol, Right Hand Pointing, Room MagazineThe Spokesman-ReviewSpokane Campfire Stories, and The Table Review.
